Applies ICD –9- CM coding rules to patient medical records. The ICD Coder is responsible for reviewing and coding all clinical records to ensure appropriate assignments of ICD codes to all patient account types. Works with staff in education of coding and OASIS-C, educates coding per ICD Coding guidelines. Responsible to monitor and inform organization of changes in coding practice and maintain accurate coding. |

| Requirements: |
Knowledge of Home Health coding. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of CMS regulations effecting coding. Current knowledge of ICD coding manual. Basic computer skills and knowledge. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain standards of productivity and accuracy. Strong teamwork and cooperation skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information according to HIPAA. Ability to clearly communicate coding expertise. Certification as a coder required. |
